We are very pleased to inform you that in BIOPARC Foundation We have signed an agreement with the Valencian generalitat, whose purpose is to strengthen collaboration in projects of conservation of native fauna in the next four years.
Our joint action with the Generalitat Valenciana focuses on in situ conservation, that is, in the animals' habitats of origin, in order to protect the closest environmental heritage.
We segment it into two lines of work, on the one hand, the freshwater aquatic fauna native and on the other hand, the urban and peri-urban wildlife.
Vicente Martínez Mus, Minister of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, has highlighted the importance of this agreement during the visit to the facilities of our BIOPARC of Valencia, which houses more than 6.000 animals of 150 species.
According to Martínez Mus, all this is aimed at “preserving our natural wealth through social awareness initiatives.”
With regard to aquatic fauna, our project contemplates the protection of species such as the gallipato and the European pond turtle, native frogs such as the spotted toad and the midwife toad. The populations of all of them are declining.
In addition, we will organize free awareness workshops with the aim of raising awareness of the problems of species pollinators like the bee and raise awareness about the causes of population decline.
We will also consider other informative activities focused on the protection of urban and peri-urban species such as the owl and the bat.
We believe that this type of initiative brings us closer to fulfilling one of our great missions.
Break with indifference!
Stay tuned! We will keep you informed of the progress we make.
